Privacy choices
Control what HxAR can access.
HxAR uses Apple permission controls and in-app publishing choices. You can review these settings at any time, although switching off access can limit the features that depend on it.
Current HxAR 1.2 behaviour and HxAR 2.0 preview behaviour are identified separately where a permission belongs only to the development preview.
Current HxAR 1.2 — camera and surroundings
Camera access powers the live augmented-reality view. Environment understanding can help place and anchor spatial content. Without camera access, camera-based AR features cannot operate.
Review access in iOS Settings → Apps → HxAR.
Current HxAR 1.2 — location
Precise foreground location supports nearby AR, local HexTiles and maps. You can change location access in iOS Settings → Apps → HxAR. Choosing a more limited setting can stop nearby or map features from working.
HxAR 2.0 preview — GEO AR Radar
When live Radar tracking is switched on, the development build requests best-accuracy foreground location and device heading to estimate the distance and direction of nearby virtual HexTiles and assigned Shared Stories.
Opening full GEO AR can also use a location HxAR already holds to request records while the screen is still red and live tracking is off. A location-derived six-character geohash prefix is sent to HxAR’s public CloudKit database to request records for the current area.
Turning Radar off stops its live location and heading updates, but previously fetched results can remain visible and Apple location permission is not revoked. Change that permission separately in iOS Settings → Apps → HxAR.
HxAR 2.0 preview — background discovery
Optional background collectable discovery in the development build uses a coarse cell and broad area for crossing detection and account-directed prompts rather than exposing an exact target. This is preview behaviour, not a claim about the current 1.2 listing.
HxAR 2.0 preview — microphone and notifications
The development build declares microphone access for voice-command features. Notification access can support relevant app activity and invitations. These permissions must be considered separately from the current 1.2 feature set and can be changed in iOS Settings.
Profile and published content
Treat a public username, public profile and deliberately published AR content as visible to other people. Review the audience choice before publishing and do not include private addresses, documents or sensitive personal information.
Access, correction, consent and deletion
